How we create a beautiful Newborn Session

I plan out every newborn session from the props and colors to the wraps, hats and headbands. I absolutely love creating new sets for each and every client. I try not to do the same exact set unless requested by a client.

I start my sessions off with wrapping baby. I wrap baby first so that they can get relaxed and sleeping at the beginning of the session. I wrap baby in a very specific way to allow them to feel like they are back in the womb. This wrapping technique also allows for baby to have a rounded look which is more appealing to the eye.

If there are young aged siblings I tend to do the sibling photos at that time while baby is secure in the wrap. This is just in case the sibling is not really having it or moves quickly.

I do all wrapped shots at the beginning. As I work my way through the sets I change out wraps and slowly start to completely unwrap baby. This is a smoother transition and helps baby stay relaxed.

After I unwrap baby completely this is the time I will usually do parent and family photos as well as bucket shots where baby has his or her head resting on her hands.

We stop during the session whenever baby may need to eat. If baby sleeps through the first half of the session at this time we usually will feed baby before we do the naked posed photos.

I always have clients tell me, “oh, he does not like to be naked” or “she cries if we get her naked”. Well I have a way that I go about it that is calming and relaxing for baby. When I get them naked I have a small space heater near by to keep them from getting cold and startled.

We transition from pose to pose very smoothly and easily as long as baby allows. Not all babies will allow me to do every pose with them. And that is okay. I work with them and what they will do and go from there. I will not make a baby do a pose that I feel they are not comfortable in.

I absolutely love what I do and I would not want to do anything else. Taking good care of your baby while capturing these precious moments means the world to me.

To my clients thank you for trusting me with your babies to capture these.
