5 Favorite Things About a Newborn Photography Session

Newborn sessions: my 5 favorite things about them!

When parents book their newborn session I truly get so excited. I chose to quit my full-time nursing career to pursue something I loved so much. Being a newborn photographer isn’t just a job for me. It is my calling and my passion. Here are the top ten reasons I chose and that I love newborn sessions.

1. Planning the sessions. I LOVE creating different setups for each tiny client. I will take my time in really planning out the session to include colors you may like or special props to use such as if this baby was a rainbow baby (baby after a miscarriage/loss). I love being able to do different setups for each client.
2. Snuggling the babies. I love being able to love on the babies. Just taking in all their little details and newness. I will not be having any more children so being able to hold a newborn gives me so much joy.
3. Spreading my knowledge. As a previous postpartum nurse I know a lot about babies and mommas. And as a mom who has experienced things, I just feel like it is my job to share as much as I can with parents. Especially first-time parents. It can be very overwhelming taking a new baby home for the first time and adjusting to having another living being to care for. As a mom I know I needed help. And I want to give parents the same knowledge that I would give my patients in the hospital. Being able to help even if it’s about a baby being gassy and what you can do to help, can make a huge difference in a new parents life.
4. The viewing appointment. I love when parents come back in to see the images. Watching them look at all the images I have captured of their precious baby is so rewarding. I love being able to provide a variety of setups and colors that they get to see their baby in. Getting to order your images in print. It is so rewarding to see these images captured in print. I love when parents want to get items for their wall or an album to document this special and fleeting moment. These babies change so much and it is so wonderful to get a piece of this to pass on to them.
5. I LOVE watching families grow. When a client does a baby plan I get to see tuis once tiny baby, sprout into a little person. It is so much fun to see their personality change as they get older. I also love when clients come back for their second, third or fourth pregnancy and baby.
